H1: Should you invest in a microneedling pen – Take a closer look
We all want to retain young-looking skin. That’s no secret. But with countless beauty products on the market touting their anti-aging magic, it can be tricky figuring out which treatments are worth it.
Microneedling works to erase the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and rejuvenate tired-looking skin. Plus, with at-home devices, you don’t even have to leave home to care for your skin.
Flexibility to treat a variety of skin issues at home? Sounds good, right?
What is Microneedling?
The treatment works by encouraging your skin to produce more collagen. When you’re in ‘skin-healing mode,’ your body naturally produces collagen and elastin, giving you an instant glow. The idea is that the tiny pinpricks from the microneedling pen slightly puncture the skin, stimulating new collagen-rich tissue to develop. Fresh facial collagen creates plumper, smoother, younger-looking skin.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, sometimes referred to dermarolling or collagen induction therapy, used to be an in-office only treatment at the dermatologist’s office. Then, it became more readily available to estheticians at medispas. Today, you can do microneedling at home with a dermaroller, or better yet, a dermapen or microneedling pen. Microneedling uses safe, thin, short needles that rapidly poke in and out of the shallow layers of your skin to encourage the body’s natural collagen production and other self-healing properties.
Is Microneedling Safe to Do at Home?
Yes, but always keep in mind there may be risks involved with any treatment that breaks the skin. However, if you’re careful and respect the process, you should be ok. Toward the end of the article, we’ll cover how to use microneedling pens at home safely.
Skin Care Benefits of Using a Microneedling Pen:
- Minimize wrinkles, reduce pore size, encourage skin tightening
- Collagen and elastin production promotes rejuvenation
- It helps improve acne, surgical, or burn scars
- Decreases the look of hyperpigmentation (brown spots and melasma) on the skin
How to Use a Dermapen?
Make the Dermapen Microneedling Pen part of your regular skincare routine. To begin, sterilize cartridges, wash, and pat skin dry. Next, gently glide the microneedling pen over the treatment area 2-4 times. Finally, apply moisturizer or a repairing serum after use. The best time to use a microneedling pen is at night. This will give your skin plenty of time to recover post-treatment.
You shouldn’t use a dermapen every day – your skin needs time to heal after each treatment. If you’re using relatively short needles, you can get away with treating your skin once or twice per week. On the other hand, you should wait around three to four weeks between treatments if you use longer needles.
The recipe for successful microneedling treatments is not overdoing it, always taking proper care of your skin before & after, and using the right needle cartridges for your skin concerns.
How Can I Use Microneedling Pens at Home Safely?
- Clean your face and hands.Coate with stoste or essence liquid. You can also use moisturizing cream if your skin is dry before using.

- Clean your face with cotton pad
- Apply mask paste or eye paste mask (Optional)
- Apply aftercare products like vitamin C or hyaluronic acid serums.
- Try not to touch your face as you heal to help prevent infection.
Notice: 1. We advise that do not touch your face with water that night in case infection
2. Do not exposing your skin to the sun, eating spicy foods, seafood or alcoholic drink or other stimulating foods within 3 days
While this is a personal preference, many skincare experts recommend staying away from direct sunlight 24 hours after treatment. That’s because it’s important to use sunscreen, and you want to steer clear of sunscreen clogging your skin while it’s in “healing mode.” In addition, in the days following your treatment, your skin will soak up anything you put on it.
Do Microneedling Pens Work?
At-home derma pens are effective. Everyone’s skincare concerns are different. If you have more minor skin issues, you can expect to see results in as little as one or two treatments. If your skin concerns are more severe, it may take more treatments to see your desired results – and that’s OK! It’s not a race.
